The Biological Foundation: What is CJC-1295?
Before we talk about the DAC, let’s talk about the engine. CJC-1295 is a synthetic analog of Growth Hormone Releasing Hormone (GHRH). In your body, GHRH is the signal sent to the pituitary gland to start pumping out Growth Hormone (GH).
Unlike exogenous GH (which can be blunt and shut down your natural production), GHRH analogs like CJC-1295 work with your biology. They encourage the pituitary to release its own stored GH, maintaining a more natural feedback loop. This is why researchers in the Muscle Growth and Weight Loss sectors are so obsessed with it.
The Problem with Original GHRH
The natural version of GHRH (GHRH 1-29) has a lifespan that’s basically a blink of an eye: we’re talking minutes. It gets chewed up by enzymes before it can do much heavy lifting. Scientists fixed this by modifying the peptide to create Mod GRF 1-29 (often called CJC-1295 No DAC). Then, they took it a step further by adding the “DAC.”
What on Earth is “DAC”?
DAC stands for Drug Affinity Complex. Think of it as a biological “anchor.”
When you add DAC to the CJC-1295 molecule, it binds to a protein in your blood called albumin. This binding protects the peptide from being broken down by the body’s natural defenses.
- Without DAC: The peptide is a “hit and run.” It gets in, does its job, and is gone in about 30 minutes.
- With DAC: The peptide hangs around for a long, long time: carrying a half-life of roughly 6 to 8 days.
